Seven B.C. Startups Named To Canada’s Most Innovative Technology Companies Lists

CIX Canadian Innovation Exchange has announced the CIX TOP 20 Early and CIX TOP 10 Growth lists of innovative Canadian technology startups for the 2021 program.

Chosen by the CIX 2021 Selection Committee of 100+ global technology investors, the selected companies represent a diverse range of technology companies spanning software, AI, medtech, fintech, big data, security, SaaS and cleantech sectors.

Companies were chosen based on several key factors including product/service offering, depth of management, market opportunity, business model and diversity of the management team.

“We saw a 14% increase in applications from all regions of Canada,” said Lauren Linton, Executive Director of CIX. “The surge in applications shows that Canadian startups are keen to show off their innovation and get back to business. It’s a very impressive cohort this year.”

“Investors have been having a difficult time accessing deal flow due to the pandemic, and this list of curated companies helps them identify hot startups to target,” added Linton.

Included on the list of CIX TOP 20 Early startups are Vancouver companies Cocoflo, Fable, Lumen5, Matidor, and Spocket.

The CIX TOP 10 Growth list included two from B.C. – Vancouver’s Dapper Labs and Victoria’s Certn.

Dapper Labs, Matidor, and Spocket were included on Techcouver’s 10 Homegrown B.C. Startups to Watch in 2021 list and Certn and Lumen5 got the nod in 2020.

Up next – the founders of these companies will present virtually at CIX Digital Summit on October 27-28th to over 1,000 investors and peers in the North American technology ecosystem.

The companies join an elite list of CIX TOP alumni including Ada, Axonify, Breather, Clearco, D-Wave, Flinks, Freshbooks, League, Skyhive, Top Hat, Vidyard, Wattpad, Wave and Wealthsimple, to name just a few.
